Youth Serving Christ Fundraiser - September 11

Garage sale at the SICC Youth Camp on Youth Camp Road in Makanda on September 11, 2010 with teens preparing earlier in the week.  Contact Tom and Donna Stearns at 618-549-6379 to donate items or get more information.

Union Hill Homecoming - September 12

Union Hill, located at 710 Union Hill Road, Carbondale, will be having their Homecoming celebrating 150 years beginning at 9:30 am on Sunday, September 12, 2010.  Special events includespecial music by "The Bankester Family" featuring acoustic-bluegrass-gospel music, special singing, children's church, time capsule installation, balloonlaunch, potluck dinner, special recognitions, professional photographs taken, slide show, gifts, and much more. 

Youth Camp Fall Retreat for Teens - October 1-2

SICC is having an overnight fall retreat for students ages 12 to 18 Friday, October 1, 2010 - Saturday, October 2, 2010.  Come prepared for fellowship, a bone fire service, and cabin devotionals. Download Retreat Details and Camper Application.
 
What is Youth Serving Christ

Youth Serving Christ (YSC) is a part of the Southern Illinois Christian Conference and is made up of a 3-person board of directors, adult volunteers, and teens with a desire to serve others. Our purpose is to encourage teens to serve Christ by serving others. Our service to others is directed to those living on Indian Reservations in the United States, but not exclusively to them. Since we began in 1998, we have gone to Reservations every year but two. We partner with Group Workcamps Foundation out of Colorado and teens from around the country to repair homes, build wheelchair ramps, paint, etc.

All positions in YSC are volunteer and we represent several churches from our community. The teens are asked to raise their $50 registration fee as a token of their commitment. The rest of the money needed for these mission trips is raised together through various fundraisers and private donations. YSC gives teens an opportunity to make a difference to others and grow in their own character.
